DescriptionTropical hardwood (grenadilla?) in two sections. Simple system keywork with ten nickel silver keys mounted on posts. This instrument was probably made in the Vogtland region of Germany. The type of the so-called “Half Boehm Cylinder Bore Piccolo” as it was in America advertised by the Rudolph Wurlitzer Co. (catalog no. 80, ca 19133, p.83). The fingering is like a 6 key Piccolo but furnished with large bored finger holes. That is why they are covered with keys. The reference to Boehm is due to the approximately cylindrical bore and the stylistical orientation of the shape to the Boehm flute.
