DescriptionA composite instrument. Dark tropical hardwood (rosewood?) body with a Meyer-model head joint (upper portion in ivory, lower portion in wood). The lower middle joint is absent. An extra barrel section accompanies the instrument. Originally, the Edward Baack flute probably had eight keys. The sections that survive have six nickel silver keys, including four saltspoon keys and two pewter plug keys. Nickel silver ferrules and headcap. The head joint comes from a "nach Meyer" flute and was probably made in Germany. The portions of the flute marked Edward Baack might have been made in New York or imported by him from Germany.
