DescriptionBrass, ivory finger buttons, double loop, tuning slide at second bow, three Stölzel valves (1, ½, 1½), screw alignment.

Original dark-brown wooden case with red leather interior and brass fittings; brass cleaning tool with wooden knob; brass mouthpiece with intermediate cup profile and narrow round rim (probably original); two tuning shanks, a coupler shank, and five crooks.

Marcel Auguste Raoux (1795-1871) was one of the leading Parisian brasswind makers of his time, being the first to be awarded the title of Chevalier de la Légion d’honneur. He exhibited cornets and ophicleides in the 1844 Paris exhibition.
