Alfred Hering, a German immigrant to Brazil, founded the company in 1923. He previously worked as a Hohner sales representative, serving the considerable German Brazilian populations of the South and Southeast Regions. While the company primarily manufactured accordions, it also made harmonicas and musical toys.
