Gaitas Fabrica Hering (GFH)
Established 4 August 1923 by Alfred Hering, a German immigrant living in Brazil. Apparently, he was a Hohner sales representative there until he started his own business because of complications associated with post-World War II product availability from Europe. According to the company website (accessed 12/22/2020), began export in the 1940s of the "Verity" model harmonica. The company was owned by the Hering family from 1923-1966, when it was purchased by Hohner and operated as such until 1979. It was then sold to a Brazilian group about 1990-1996. At that time, it was producing accordions, harmonicas and musical toys. The machinery, tools, etc., were purchased and, later, repurposed by the firm SHG Industria e Comercio de Ferramentos Musicals LTDA, beginning in 2017.
