Leedy Manufacturing Company
Founder: Ulysses G. Leedy (b. November 6, 1867, Hancock County , Ohio - d. January 7, Indianapolis, Marion County, 1931)
- 1895 U. G. Leedy and clarinetist Samuel M. “Sam” Cooley gathered $50.00 each and began to make drums, under the name of Leedy & Cooley; partnership officially ended on August 1, 1902 “by mutual consent”
- 1903 company incorporated as Leedy Manufacturing Company; Leedy continued his business under the name “Leedy Manufacturing Company” with business partners Charles B. Wanamaker and Herman Winterhoff;
- 1929 C. G. Conn acquired control of the company and moved its operations to Elkhart the next year;
- 1951 Leedy & Ludwig; combined Conn division between Leedy and Ludwig&Ludwig in the afterman of WWII;
- 1955 Conn decided to discontinue the unprofitable Leedy & Ludwig division; Bud Slingerland purchased rights to the Leedy name;
- 1956-1965 Leedy drums were basically Slingerland drums;
- mid-1960s Slingerland quietly discontinued Leedy production and use of the name;
