- started business in 1867 in Trossingen "im Tal" ("in the valley")

- exhibited at 1873 world exhibition in Vienna

- 1903 founded branch office in New York; manager Ernest Koch

- sold business to Hohner in Dec. 15, 1928; Hohner took possession on Jan 1, 1929
