Edward Baack (b 9? June 1809, Hamburg - d 14 December 1893, New York)

Born Heinrich Eduard, to a Hamburg maritime commercial family.

According to unsubstantiated family tradition, 1832 went to US as German army deserter.

From 1837, in partnership as "Baack & Paulus" with William Paulus, as MI dealer, importer.

1864-72 directory listings as maker.

Retired in 1872, through insolvency occasioned by wartime debts and economic crises.
