DescriptionGerman silver, tuning slide at second bow, fixed leadpipe, three rotary valves (1, ½, 1½), three-point-wing device, one stop pin, narrow clock-spring return.
The Spanish signature indicates this cornet was made for distribution by one of the Spanish-speaking branches of Stowasser’s Söhne. The firm had branches in Barcelona and Buenos Aires since about 1899. This cornet shows a rather unusual valve construction with very narrow clock-spring casing. The arrangement of the three-point-wing device on the opposite side of the touchpieces is reminiscent of American side-action rotary valves and, possibly, an indication that this cornet was made for the South American market.
