DescriptionBrass, double loop, tuning slide at second bow, three closed keys for the right hand (raising the pitch by a semitone, a whole tone, and a minor third); brass crook for C.
Built for military use and designed to be held and played with one hand. First active in Dublin, James Cowlan moved to Liverpool in 1822, where he is recorded at 39 Whitechapel until 1834.
