DescriptionBrass, silver nameplate, double loop, three keys for the right hand, one open key (lowering the pitch by a semitone) and two closed keys (raising the pitch by a semitone and a whole tone); no tuning slide.

Greenhill was listed in 1835 as “professor and manufacturer of the Royal Kent Bugle.” The present instrument was built between 1829 and 1843, when Greenhill was active at 18 Little Britain in London. It combines features of the keyed trumpet (predominantly cylindrical tubing and lower pitch) and the keyed bugle (key system with open-standing lowest key).
