ProvenanceUsed in schools bands in Sioux City, Iowa, and donated by Mr. Sheffield when the fingering system on this clarinet became outdated. Wayne Charles Sheffield (1912-2011) graduated from Central High School, Sioux City, in 1931. During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in England. Following the war, he attended band instrument repair school in Elkhart, Indiana, and subsequently went to work for his brother, Darrell, in Darrell's Music Store in Sioux City. When Darrell closed his store, Wayne opened his own music store, Sheffield Band Instrument and Repair.
