DescriptionThe stamping on the headstock corresponds to the system used by Haynes for their Bay State models - the Bruno Style A appears to be congruent with the Bay State Style H and this example bears a Haynes series serial number that would place manufacture ca. 1891-92.

Back: two-piece book-matched Brazilian rosewood; back stripe comprised of brown hardwood strip surrounded on each side by narrower three-ply light hardwood and black hardwood strips
Ribs: two-piece Brazilian rosewood
Head: slotted, mahogany peghead veneered with rosewood
Neck: mahogany with ridge along center of back; flared heel
Heel cap: ebony
Binding: rosewood on top only, with trim comprised of four alternating strips of light and brown hardwood, the outer two strips wider
Fingerboard: ebony, possibly later; 19nickel-silver T frets
Nut: missing
Bridge: ebony pyramid bridge with non-angled bone saddle
Tuners: two sets of worm-gear machine heads with brass plates, brass rollers, bone heads, the plates stamped with sprigs of oak with acorns, geometric borders, with two pinwheels at each end
Endpin: missing
Rosette: 5-ply alternating strips of light and brown hardwood, with wider strip at center, surrounded on each side with 2-ply brown hardwood strips, with space in between
Varnish: golden with craquelure
Linings: kerfed mahogany
Neck block: spruce with beveled corners, the grain running parallel to top and back; varnished
End block: spruce with beveled corners, the grain running parallel to top and back
Top braces: two spruce braces above soundhole, the upper very low and wide, the lower tapered; three tapered spruce braces below soundhole, including one below bridge; spruce graft between center two braces; wide, low spruce bridge plate; spruce braces on each side of soundhole
Back braces: mahogany back graft; two tapered mahogany braces in upper bout; four very low, wide, slightly tapered braces in center and lower bouts
