bell seam: tab seam, tabs 4 mm wide and 4 mm apart, extends over entire bellpipe.
garland: brass garland with straight upper edge, no decoration.
bell rim: Saxon rim with iron wire insert.
ferrules: short convex ferrules between the tube segments.
braces: decoratively turned brass braces on round mounts between first and third valve and second valve branch; flat braces on round mounts between bell and leadpipe and outer slide I for main tuning slide.

valves: three double-piston valves of the Old Mainz style, lowering the pitch by a whole tone (first valve), a semitone (second valve), and minor third (third valve).
Long single levers pivoted in square brass capsules, operated by the left hand. Connection between levers and pistons by straight brass rods screwed to the underside of the levers and one of the end caps; flat-spring return with rollers. Piston ends are exposed when valves are actuated, cylindrical end caps pinned together to form piston pair. Valve segment covered and protected by a brass sheet. Valve slides with female moving slides.
