This model has separate (or double) tension, allowing the drumheads to be adjusted independently. While some custom-painted drumheads were available from manufacturers, more often they were done after market. Following World War I, many soldiers sought connection and support, as the country recovered from its largest military conflict to date. The American Legion, founded in 1919, is a veterans’ organization with chapters across the country. Many posts have their own affiliated bands, which perform at patriotic events and parades.
