DescriptionHerman August Wendler (1851-1926) was born and trained in Markneukirchen. His father was the brass instrument maker Johann Friedrich August Wendler. A. Wendler established a workshop in Schwerin in 1876 and received the title of Hofinstrumentenmacher in 1898. The instrument was made some time after that event and his death in 1926. It is an interesting adaptation of an American string-operated rotary valve action of the French-horn style, obviously made for the American market.

Brass, lacquered. Three rotary valves with string linkages.
