One-piece ivory, turned horn ferrules; curved to the right; octagonal, upper part with smoothly carved diamonds with alternating straight sections; internally stepped receiver; six fingerholes and a thumbhole, all undercut with signs of heavy use.

This cornettino is a fifth, rather than a fourth above the regular curved cornetto, and was therefore possibly made in the sixteenth century, when this size was common. The horn ferrules may be an indication that it was made in Nuremberg, where this material was frequently used by the Wilruf- und Horndreher (Hunting whistle and horn turners).
