DescriptionTop: two-piece, quarter-cut spruce: medium grain, widening then narrowing at the flanks
Back: one-piece, semi-slab-cut maple: mostly plain, with faint narrow curl at center bout; knots at upper-bass and center bouts; filled wormholes under original varnish and purfling; ebony dowels through back into top and bottom blocks; ebony crown over button
Ribs: semi-slab-cut maple, faint curl; filled wormholes under original varnish
Head: maple: faint, very narrow curl; pegbox cheeks refaced
Neck: maple: medium curl; grafted
Edging: sharply scooped
Varnish: golden, with very fine craquelure; dark red retouch at pegbox base and neck heel
Fingerboard: ebony; small maple wedge added to raise height; probably added in 1961 [see identifying marks]
Tailpiece: ebony; one nickel-plated brass fine tuner
Tailgut: black plastic
Pegs: rosewood
Saddle: ebony
Endpin: ebony
F-holes: slightly undercut on wings; inside edges stained black
