Description4 sections: head, barrel, body, and foot. Cocuswood body with silver keywork and ferrules. Ivory insert surrounding embouchure hole. Conical bore. Carte patent system (1851). 14 touchpieces (4 rings, 2 plateau keys). Two open-standing thumb keys. Open G-sharp. Long F key closes a key to produce F natural when F sharp is fingered. Right index finger closes the top thumb key, giving an alternative B natural. Metal tuning sleeve between head and barrel.

ProvenanceDonor was a flutist in the Milwaukee Symphony before moving to Idaho in 1967. Had most of the flutes then, and exhibited them in Idaho. Donor is Professor Emeritus of Flute and former Director of the Hampton School of Music at the University of Idaho. He is a recognized flute instructor and clinician in the United States, Canada and Europe. An active and highly respected charter member of the National Flute Association, he appears frequently at association events as a performer, speaker and clinician. He is also a consultant for Gemeinhardt Co., Inc., where his extensive work in research and development has contributed to modern flute design.
