DescriptionBrass with some silver plating, mother-of-pearl finger buttons, double loop, tuning slide at second bow (finger and thumb piece removed), originally removable leadpipe now fixed (leadpipe to bell brace not original), three Périnet valves (1, ½, 1½), top sprung, spring inside hollow stem, alignment by three unequal lugs on spring anchor plate, pistons nickel-plated brass, double water key (first and third bows), windway 3-2-1.
Silver-plated brass cornet mouthpiece with geometrical engravings, stamped “WONDER MODEL / 19 // CONN”.
Although altered and modernized, the original model of this instrument can still be identified as the Wonder # 2 model, later also called “New York Wonder Model” (see NMM 7258). The patent stamped on the second valve refers to US patent no. 343,888 for continuous airflow.
