DescriptionBrass, German silver, tuning slide at second bow, two double-piston valves (1, ½), clock-spring return (Uhlmann type).
Brass mouthpiece (probably original); original conifer case with cherry wood veneer and inlaid edges of black stained fruit wood, brass fittings and original green cloth inside. The B-flat coupler may be used for the pitch of 9-foot B-flat in conjunction with the C-crook or for 6-foot F when inserted into the instrument by itself.
Typical slender Viennese trumpet model. The valve system follows the design patented by Leopold Uhlmann (1806-1878) in Vienna in 1830 closely, and may therefore be referred to as "Vienna Valve." The use of a clock-spring return mechanism and tapered piston ends is characteristic.
