Description3 sections: headjoint, one-piece body and barrel, and foot joint. Cylindrical Boehm system with open holes. Sterling silver body and keywork. Seamed tubing. Soldered toneholes. 15 touchpieces. Inline G. Closed G-sharp. Briccialdi B-flat key. Trill keys: B-flat, D, D-sharp. C-foot. T-clutch for right hand.
This Boehm system flute was made for George Madsen, solo piccolo with the Boston Symphony Orchestra (BSO) under Serge Koussevitzky. This flute is a copy of a Louis Lot design built by Powell to the higher pitch scale. The headjoint tenon includes a ring that was specific to flutes built by Lot.
